Do you need volunteers?
We do...but we can’t take volunteers. To explain, because of liability we cannot often use volunteers inside the kennel, but occasionally we have projects that we need help with and can use volunteer help. Currently we need people who know how to put up fencing. We have the materials. Now we need the man/woman power to put it up. We want to build a fenced in grassy area for the dogs to play in and for prospective adopters to have fun in together. We also have a gas grill to be put together. It is for fundraiser events that we host here at the kennel, or when we have an open house.

Do you euthanize animals at your shelter or is there a time limit before they are euthanized?
Our shelter is very close to a no-kill shelter. The only time we must take an animal to be humanely euthanized is if the animal is terminally ill, is severely injured, or determined to be too aggressive for adoption. We have placed an 18-year old blind and deaf dog into a great home! We have placed so many more animals with difficult circumstances.
2.
Do you accept donations and if so, what do you need?
Our townspeople are very generous and bring donations to our kennel on occasion. We need towels, blankets, toys for cats and dogs, and treats. Advantix for dogs and Frontline for cats is always welcome! If you are stuck for an idea, a gift card to a local pet store or Walmart is a great idea so we can shop for what we need at the time. We also have residents who donate money to the veterinarian we use so that we can get the medications the animals need and non-emergency medical care that we normally couldn’t afford.
