The Ledyard Police Department is currently attempting to locate the following missing person. Ryan Bidstrup 09/21/1989 of 5 Green Point Street in Ledyard. He was last seen on March 31, 2011 in the Highlands section of Ledyard. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ledyard Police Department at 860-464-6400.
One Vehicle Accident
On December 5, 2014 at approximately 10:47pm, the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a one vehicle motor vehicle accident on Iron St (RT 214), between Spicer Hill and Saw Mill. In addition to the Ledyard Police Department, the Ledyard Fire Department, Gales Ferry Fire Department, and Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad responded.
Arriving emergency responders found the vehicle, a 2009 Chevy Malibu, off the road with the vehicle operator unresponsive. The operator, John H. McGrenery DOB 05/05/1937 of 15 Hickory Lane Monroe, CT , was transported to the WW Backus Hospital in Norwich where he was pronounced dead. A passenger in the vehicle, Trudy McGrenery DOB 07/08/1937 was transported to the WW Backus Hospital for evaluation. The cause of this accident remains under investigation, including the possibility that the vehicle operator suffered a medical event prior to the crash
