What a winter!

Ledyard has 110 miles of roads to maintain. Public Works receives 1/2 cent of each of your tax
dollars to get the job done. This winter has exhausted our workers and our winter ops
budget. For example we have spent $152,000 on salt where we had budgeted $105,000.
Most of our storms have occurred on weekends and holidays, which has resulted in
Overtime expenses and workers working with minimal rest. It is now only January.
Please be mindful of our limitations, and be more careful on your roads. We do our best,
but winter conditions this year are the worst in years!
