The Probate Court serves a variety of functions, including:
- Settlement of estates and conservatorships
- Names changes
- Guardianships
- Adoptions
- Psychiatric commitments
- Guardianship of mentally retarded persons
- Paternity
- Emancipation of minors
The Probate Judge is elected for a four year term. The Probate Court serves citizens in matters involving estates, conservatorships, adoptions, juvenile and other family matters.
