The Building Department ensures public safety, health, and welfare in so far as they are affected by building construction, through:
- Structural strength
- Adequate means of egress for facilities
- Sanitary equipment
- Light and ventilation
- Fire safety
The department secures safety to life and property from all hazards pertaining to the:
- Design
- Erection
- Repair
- Removal
- Demolition
- Occupancy of buildings, structures, or premises
