The Ledyard Highlands Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) was upgraded in 1997. This upgrade included Sequencing Batch Reactors with:
- Automatic backwash sand filtration
- Fine air diffusers
- Flow equalization
- Ultraviolet light disinfection
Sanitary Collection System
The sanitary collection system consists of approximately:
- 2 miles of force mains
- 2 pumping stations
- 6 miles of gravity pipe
Class IV Facility
The Ledyard Highlands WWTF is rated as a class IV facility. This is the highest designation for plants in the State of Connecticut. It takes a dedicated and professional staff to operate and maintain such a facility. We are proud to continue to provide the residents of Ledyard with the quality of service that they deserve while protecting the environment and natural resources of Southeastern Connecticut.

The Water Pollution Control Authority meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers.
